Bed bugs can travel just anywhere, it’s easy to get them inside the grocery bag or for that matter even in the clothes one is wearing. In 1950 the people would search around a hotel room to see that no bed bugs were present as its horrifying to have them around, even hotel owner would check to see that no client had got these nasty creatures inside their belongings. Till today bed bugs are equally feared as this blood sucking vampires prey on human blood by piercing the skin and sucking the blood.

You have to look around your room to check whether or not you are suffering from bed bug infestation and if you detect then the problem has to be resolved quickly. Seeking the help of a qualified pest control company would be beneficial to remove bed bugs and make sure they do not come back.

To detect bed bugs you need to inspect your mattress thoroughly as this is where they tend to be found the most. Check the underside of your mattress and the box springs, using a flashlight. Inspect your sheets and pillows; check your bed frame, headboard and other furniture near your bed to see if the bed bug is present there. While inspecting if you find blood spots then it’s a sure sign that bed bugs are present at your resident.

After the initial detection you can follow these steps to get rid of bed bugs.

1) Remove all clutters from around the area where your bed is placed and then thoroughly vacuum the area.

2) Wash your bedding in hot water and the stuffs (mattress) which cannot be washed should be exposed to sunlight.

3) Encase the mattress, pillows and sofas with a high quality cover that will act as a protective shield against bed bugs.

4)  Steam cleaning of the mattress and carpets can be done as this will help to kill the bed bugs.

5) Try to keep your bed away from the wall so that the bed bugs cannot travel down to your bed from the walls.

6) Use light colored sheets so that you can easily detect these reddish brown creatures.

7) Do not use any pesticide yourself; try to hire a professional to do this task.

8) IPM approach can be ideal to control bed bugs as IPM would take on different methods then just a single pesticide application method.

In any pest control situation it would be wise to hand over the task to a certified professional instead of taking the risk yourself. You can ask for safe bio friendly solutions to be applied while cleaning up. Make sure that the pest control agency you are hiring is bonded and licensed.
