Keep Out Termites With Termite Barriers

In past days, repellents were used to keep out termites. In those repellents were chosen as the best method to deter termites from invading the home. But now-a-days these repellents have become old fashioned methods and are not so effective. There are many cases where termite infestation is possible even though we use repellents to stop them. Termite barrier is the only way to outwit the termites.

There are different types of termite barriers which help to get rid of termites easily. The termite barriers are classified as physical barriers and chemical barriers. In some situations a mix of both is also usable. An approach that involves both physical and chemical barriers which acts like a baiting system will be the right prescription to avoid termite infestation.

What are physical barriers?

Physical termite barriers are fitter into a home while it is constructed or it can be added afterwards. The physical barriers are made up of materials like metal, rock that termites cannot eat or dig tunnels. Physical barriers can be placed in various parts of the building like roofs, wall cavities, slabs, foundations and many more. An another approach of physical barriers is to seal up the cracks, holes in the bricks so that no entry point can be found by the termites. Ant caps can be placed on the roofs to push the termites to a place where they can be noticed more easily.

What are chemical barriers?

A chemical termite barrier is placed under the slab while constructing the home. The chemical termite barrier is placed in the soil where termite can take it to their colonies and spread the chemical effect to the entire infestation.

Sometime single strategy might not work, so a combination of physical and chemical barrier is required to deal with the termites.
